pom is called pom in chinese. it is a high crystalline polymer,smooth surface, luster, water absorption, small size stability,wear resistance, high strength, good self-lubrication, goodcoloring, oil resistance, peroxide resistance and so on. pom has agood comprehensive performance, is the hardest in thethermoplastic, is one of the plastic raw material mechanicalproperties close to the metal, its tensile strength, bendingstrength, fatigue strength, wear resistance and electricalproperties are very good. can be used between-40 °c-100 °c for along time. according to the different molecular chain structure,pom can be divided into homopolyformaldehyde andcopolyformaldehyde. the former has higher density, crystallinityand melting point, but poor thermal stability, narrow processingtemperature range of 10 °c, slightly lower stability to acid andalkali, while the latter has lower density, crystallinity andmelting point, but good thermal stability and is not easy todecompose, processing temperature range is 50 degrees celsius. thedisadvantages of pom plastic materials are: corrosion by strongacid, poor weathering resistance, poor adhesion, thermaldecomposition and softening temperature close, oxygen limitingindex is small.
