characterization                      irganox 1010 – a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant – is a highly effec-

tive, non discoloring stabilizer for organicsubstrates such as plastics, syn- thetic fibers, elastomers,adhesives, waxes, oils and fats. it protects these substratesagainst thermo-oxidative degradation.

         applications      irganox1010 canbeappliedinpolyolefins, suchaspolyethylene, polypro- pylene,polybutene and olefin copolymerssuch asethylene-vinylacetatecopolymers. also,its use isrecommendedfor theprocessingof polymers suchaspolyacetals,polyamides and polyurethanes,polyesters,pvc,sty-renehomo-andcopolymers, abs,elastomerssuch asbutyl rubber(iir),sbs, sebs, epm and epdm as well as other synthetic rubbers, adhesives, naturalandsynthetic tackifier resins,and otherorganic substrates.

features/benefits                    irganox1010has goodcompatibility, high resistancetoextractionand low

volatility. it is odorless and tasteless. theproduct can be used in combina- tion with other additives such ascostabilizers (e. g. thioethers, phosphites, phosphonites), lightstabilizers and other functional stabilizers. the effective- nessof the blends of irganox 1010 withirgafos®168 (irganox b-blends) or with irgafos 168 andirgafos fs042 is particularly noteworthy.

       guidelines for use                  already 0.05 % – 0.1 % ppm of irganox 1010 provide long-term thermal sta-bilityto the polymer. concentrations up to several percent may be useddepending on the substrate and the re of the endapplication. in polyolefins the concentration levels for irganox1010 range between 0.05 % and 0.4 % depending on substrate,processing conditions and long-term thermal stability re.the optimum level has to be determined application specific.concentration levels of irganox 1010 in hot melt adhe- sives rangefrom 0.2 % to 1 %, in synthetic tackifier resins, irganox1010        concentration ranges between 0.1 %and 0.5 %. extensive performance data of irganox 1010 invarious organic polymers and applications are availableuest.
