om按分子链中化学结构的不同可分为均聚甲醛和共聚甲醛两种，均聚甲醛一般是由无水聚甲醛聚合而得，共聚甲醛是由三聚甲醛与少量二氧戊环的共聚产物。正是由于结构上的不同，导致均聚和共聚甲醛在各项性能下存在差异。两者主要区别是：均聚甲醛密度、结晶度较高，熔点与hdt较共聚甲醛高10℃，强度、耐蠕变性能和耐摩擦性能更优越，但热稳定性差，加工温度范围窄约10℃，对酸硷的稳定性较低。共聚甲醛密度、结晶度、熔点、强度都较低，但热稳定性相对较好，不容易分解，加工温度范围宽30~50℃，对酸硷稳定性较好。

提高pom耐磨性能有两种方法：一种是化学改性。利用接技、嵌段等手段在pom分子链上引入具有润滑性的链段。另一种是物理共性。日本塑料公司开发的duraconnw-02是一种由润滑性聚合物与pom接枝而成的润滑改性剂。在相同载荷与滑动速度下，duraconnw-02的滑动表面温度比未经改性的一般共聚pom低30%~50%。

pom被广泛用于制造各种滑动、转动机械零件，做各种齿轮、杠杆、滑轮、链轮，特别适宜做轴承，热水阀门、精密计量阀、输送机的链环和辊子、流量计、汽车内外部把手、曲柄等车窗转动机械，油泵轴承座和叶轮燃气开关阀、电子开关零件、坚固体、接线柱镜面罩、电风扇零件、加热板、仪表钮；录音录像带的轴承等
