In 2023, China's steel pipe production reached 95.65 milliontonnes, the second-highestin history, with seamless steel pipeproduction reaching 31.5 million tonnes, marking ayear-on-yearincrease of 6.42% and a new historical record. Welded pipeproductionwas 64.15 million tonnes, also the second-highest inhistory (following the 69.39 million
tonnes in 2015).
The increase in steel pipe production and sales was primarilydriven by the sustainedhigh levels of international energy prices(mostly ranging from S76 to S90 per barrel),which boosted thedemand for oilfield pipes and pipeline pipes in both domesticandinternational markets. Additionally, the rapid development ofsectors such as coal power(3 units of 80 million kW), urbanization(pipeline construction), steel structureapplications, and newenergy (e.g., photovoltaic brackets, wind power pipes) further
contributed to the growth in steel pipe demand.
