Z508 is a nickel-copper alloy (Monel) core, cast iron electrodewith strong reducing graphite coating. It can be used for both ACand DC, with stable arc and convenient operation. The weld metal issoft but the color is brighter, the shrinkage rate is large, thecrack resistance is relatively poor, and the weld strength is nothigh, so it is not suitable for welding repairs on stressed partsand new castings with chromatic aberration re In orderto prevent cracks, it is recommended to use 150~300℃ lowtemperature preheating for the base material to be welded to reducewelding stress.
It is often used for repair welding of gray cast iron pores andblisters with low strength re
1. First, remove oil, sand, water, rust and other contaminants fromthe welding part, and prepare measures such as beveling, crackingprevention, and molten pool modeling depending on the type ofdefect.
2. To fill a large gap, start from the surrounding area bysurfacing one layer, and then gradually fill it up to themiddle.
3. In order to avoid excessive melting of the base material, reducethe white mouth layer. In welding, try to use small current, shortarc, narrow track, short track, dispersed segment welding, thelength of each segment of the weld generally does not exceed 50mm,and continue welding when the temperature drops to not hot. Andimmediately after welding, hammer the weld to relax the stress andprevent cracks.
4. The welding rod should be baked at about 150℃ for one hourbefore welding.
