The CPU 1517-3 PN/DP is the CPU with a very large program and datamemory for demanding tasks in applications that also containdistributed automation structures alongside central I/O.
It can be used as a PROFINET IO controller or as distributedintelligence (PROFINET I-Device). The integrated PROFINET IO IRTinterface is designed as 2-port switch so that a linear topologycan be set up in the system.
The additional integrated PROFINET interface with separate IPaddress can be used for network separation, connecting furtherPROFINET IO RT devices, or high-speed communication as an I-Device,for example.
Distributed I/O can be connected via PROFIBUS via the integratedPROFIBUS interface.
In addition, the CPU offers comprehensive control functionalitiesas well as the ability to connect drives via standardized PLCopenblocks.
