characteristics of dupont pa66 plastic raw materials in theunited states:
1. it has excellent wear resistance, self-lubrication, and highmechanical strength. however, due to its high water absorption, itsdimensional stability is poor
2. pa66 can maintain strong strength and stiffness at highertemperatures. pa66 still has hygroscopicity after molding, and itsdegree mainly depends on the material composition, wall thickness,and environmental conditions.
3. when designing products, it is important to consider theimpact of moisture absorption on geometric stability. in order toimprove the mechanical properties of pa66, various modifiers areoften added. glass is the most common additive, and sometimessynthetic rubber such as epdm and sbr are added to improve impactresistance. pa66 has low viscosity, therefore it has good fluidity(but not as good as pa6). this property can be used to process verythin components. its viscosity is very sensitive to temperaturechanges.
4. the shrinkage rate of pa66 ranges from 1% to 2%, and addingglass fiber additives can reduce the shrinkage rate to 0.2% to 1%.the difference in shrinkage rate between the process direction andthe direction perpendicular to the process direction issignificant. pa66 has solubility resistance to many solvents, buthas weak resistance to acids and other chlorinating agents.
