materialsin contact with food shall meet the re in uae.s/gso 2231and relevant emirates standards as listed in the above table. theyshall be manufactured in factories in compliance with goodmanufacturing practice (gmp), or other scheme adopted bythe emirates authority for standardization and metrology(esma).

theyshall also be labeled with “للملامسة مع الغداء” (which means foodcontact) or the following symbol: 

 

importersof such products shall then register with esma and obtain acertificate of conformity on the basis of the emirates conformityassessment scheme (ecas).
