dhl supply chain, americas’ leader in contract logistics and partofdeutsche post dhl group, broke ground today on a new corporateheadon westar place in westerville, ohio. the company willinvest morethan $20 million in the new head set to open indecember 2019.

　　dhl supply chain has a long history with central ohio,andspecifically westerville, originally occupying space onschrockroad in 1991 and moving to polaris parkway in 2003. in thattime,the company developed collaborative partnerships withthewesterville community. company executives explored severaloptionsfor relocation, but decided to stay in central ohio, becauseofthose partnerships, the existing talent that exists in theareaand, most notably, the region’s importance in thelogisticsindustry.

　　“our decision to further invest in central ohio was astrategicone, as the region provides greater access to the u.s.than anyother market,” said scott sureddin, ceo of dhl supplychain, northamerica. “our new head will further enable us to meettheneeds of our two most important stakeholders: our customers andourpeople.”

　　dhl supply chain employs 630 people at its current northamericanhead in westerville and has more than a dozen warehousesandfacilities in central ohio. from those facilities, dhl supplychainis able to reach 46 percent of the u.s. population within a10-hourdrive, more than any major u.s. metro.

“just by looking at a map, we know that central ohio is alogisticshub, but having dhl supply chain, the world’s largestthird-partylogistics provider, call the region its home makescentral ohio thelogistics hub,” said david c. stadge, chair of thedelaware countyfinance authority.

　　westerville’s polaris parkway corridor presented an ideallocationfor an innovative new head, with quick access tomajor highways,increased development and room for expansion. thenew building willaccommodate more than 800 associates as thecompany plans tocontinue to grow in the next 10 years.
