定义：

凡士林除去可作浸润和灌注电容外，可用于防锈、和防水剂。在做防水薄膜时，干了后反复涂2-3次干后就会生成一层防水膜了。

电工用凡士林涂抹在电缆与接线盒之间，可起到润滑作用。

还用作轻型机械和精密仪表的润滑，化妆、食品工业和纺织工业的机械润滑等。

涂于两个直接接触的磨砂玻璃器皿缝隙间，可防止玻璃相互咬死以致卡住。常见的就是滴定管中的玻璃活栓上要涂上薄薄的一层凡士林以增加扭转时的润滑度并封住缝隙。要将玻璃管插入橡皮塞的孔内时，涂上一些凡士林也可以增加润滑度让管子更易插入。
