在周围环境为25℃时，vetus蓄电池每个月的本身流失电量从未超过3％。相比较来说，传统的富液型铅酸电池每个月的本身流失电量大约为15％。因此，在过了冬季的几个月后，电池不需充电仍可启动引擎。另外，vetus蓄电池虽只是充电50％，仍能耐受-30％（-22℉）的温度，这样可在冬季时无需将电池从船上移掉。
