general description

sylgard®184 is a silicone basedelastomeric kit that is a two component system with a polymericbase and a curing agent which cross-links with the polymericmatrix. the resulting composite formed is a polydimethylsiloxane(pdms) with tensile strength (uts) of ~5.2 mpa and shore hardnessof ~44 at room temperature. the uts, hardness and the young′smodulus (e) increase at a higher curing temperature.[1][2]

application

sylgard®184 based pdms can beused in soft-lithography for a variety of applications such asmicrofluidics, microelectromechanical systems (mems) and otherflexible electronic devices.[3][4] it also forms hydrophobic pdmsfilms which can be used as moisture membrane in photovoltaiccells.[2]
