UPS为了消除共模干扰，零、火线对地之间都加了滤波电容，零、火对地都有电流，可能造成零、火线上电流不等，从而使带漏电的断路器跳闸。所以UPS前级及负载回路不能装带漏电保护的断路器，以免造成UPS及其负载意外掉电。这里要指出的是，用户配UPS的主要目的是为了重要设备如计算机等的安全运行，而不是为了保障人员安全，所以也不应该对线路中带电部分如插座、断路器等频繁插拔、开合。

由于一般负载在启动瞬间存在冲击电流，而UPS内部功率元件都有一定的安全工作区范围，尽管我们在选用器件时都留有一定的余量，但是过大的冲击电流还是会缩短元器件的使用寿命，甚至造成元器件损坏，因此在使用时尽量减少冲击电流带来的损害。一般UPS在旁路工作是抗冲击能力较强，我们可以利用这特点在开机时采用以下方式进行，先送市电给UPS，使其处于旁路工作，在逐个打开负载，先开冲击电流较大的负载，再开冲击电流较小的负载，然后UPS面板开机，使其处于逆变工作状态。开机时千万不能将所有负载同时开启，也不可带载开机。

在使用UPS电源的时候还要计算负载的大小，要避免负载的过大或者过小，过大的负载会使UPS电源长期工作在超负荷状态从而缩短UPS电源的使用寿命;如果负载过小，UPS电源的工作电路长期工作在不正常状态，这对于UPS电源也是有一定危害的。合理的负载应该控制在50%到80%之间。实践证明，UPS电源输出负载控制在60%左右为佳，可靠性好。在UPS电源出现过载或逆变器故障时会转到旁路模式运行，此时UPS电源不具备后备功能，负载所用的电源是通过电力系统直接供应的。
